a bit next week to the vice presidential nominees. paul ryan and joe biden will face off in their only debate next thursday night. paul ryan has just left his four-day debate camp. he is heading back to wisconsin for a fund-raiser tonight. and as for the vice president, we check in with msnbc news campaign embed carrie dan. she's embedded with vice president joe biden's team. carrie, vice president biden's schedule shows him to be in wilmington, delaware, right now, and for the next few days. what is planned for him? >> that's right, milissa. he's going to be doing his own debate camp there, up until a day before the debate. he's spending time with chris van hollen, that's his sparring partner. van hollen has worked with paul ryan, he's a democrat from maryland, who worked with ryan with and against on the house budget committee. so van hollen is someone who's very familiar, not only with his policies. so the two of them will be participating in mock debates. they've done two to date, and i'm sure they'll be doing a lot more up until wednesday, before they head to danville, kentucky, f

to be great. if nothing else i guarantee you it will be very entertaining to watch joe biden and paul ryan. and there again, i think there is an opportunity to -- i think romney's gotten some deserved momentum out of -- he had a very strong performance. he's gotten a momentum. i think his campaign is trying to figure out how to keep that momentum going into next week. the debate might be where that momentum is blunted a little bit. joe biden is going to say look, paul, how much time do you need? here's a white board. here's a pen. how much time do you need to do the math? we're here for you. let's work it out. >> hey rich, how much in terms of paul ryan, how much do you think is resting on his shoulders? how do you think he's going to fare against joe biden? he's a lot younger, doesn't have as much debate experience. >> that's not true. they're both members of congress. they have a lot of debate -- that's what you do in congress whether it's in committee or on the floor. i think they will both be more skilled, frankly, than either of the two presidential candidates who did not have that ki

they moved quickly to vote for the ryan budget which passed the house the first time on a vote of 235-193. it would have cut taxes for those at the top even further. the ryan budget died in the senate. undeterred, ryan unveiled a second version of his budget. this one would have cut $1.76 trillion from the taxes of the top one-half of the top 1% over ten years. which brings us to the current campaign. during the republican primary every candidate in the field offered tax cuts that it turned out would most benefit the wealthy. a number of the plans proposed, herman cain's, newt gingrich's came right out and said explicitly they lowered taxes for the wealthy and some raised taxes at the bottom quite explicitly. i suppose it is to mitt romney's credit he did not have the most cruelly aggressive tax plan in the primary. it's underappreciated that he is currently proposing at least three major separate tax cuts all of which would disproportionately benefit the rich. first, he's proposing that all of the bush tax cuts be made permanent. the tax cut of $3 trillion for the wealthiest over the
